The image shows a 1935 vintage photograph of my maternal ancestors. The focus is on the brewer Aszalai, a wine merchant who emerged from our farming family and even tied a tie for the harvest. The perky young man in a military cap sitting on the horse is Szöszke's brother-in-law - grandfather of our winemaker Laci Pálinkás - and their wives are, of course, the Gránicz girls, including my grandmother...
